Liverpool Presents Mamardashvili: “One of the Best – A Challenge for Me”
Liverpool has officially introduced its new goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and published his first official interview on the club’s website.
H2: Giorgi Mamardashvili’s First Words as a Liverpool Player
“Thank you. I’m very happy to be here. This is a great moment for me because transferring to Liverpool is not an ordinary thing – it’s the fulfillment of a dream. Now I feel motivated, proud, and ready.”

H2: What It Means to Be Part of Liverpool
“When I agreed to the Liverpool transfer last summer, I felt that something big was beginning in my career. And now I understand even better what it means to be a Liverpool player.”
H2: On Diogo Jota’s Tragedy
“It was truly a very sad moment when I arrived here. But everyone here supports each other – Liverpool is a big family. We are not just a team; we are people who care for one another.”
I didn’t have the chance to play alongside him, but I played against him once – at Euro 2024. I saw firsthand what an amazing player he was and how much people loved him. It was clear that he was an incredible person off the pitch as well.

H2: Watching Liverpool’s Games Last Season
“Of course, I watched every game – I already considered myself part of the team. Celebrating the championship title was amazing. I clearly saw how much Liverpool means to so many people.
H2: Being the First Georgian at Liverpool
“Of course, I’m very proud of that. I know what it means to my family and to Georgian fans. I will never forget the day my transfer to Liverpool was announced. I received so many messages from Georgia – everyone was happy and excited.”
H2: Moving From Georgia to European Football
“I played three seasons in the top Georgian league. Gradually, I got into the national team. At 20, I had the chance to move to Spain – and that’s when a completely different life began for me. A new culture, language, people… The first year was especially difficult.
Valencia played a huge role in my life. At first, I didn’t know Spanish or English, which made things tough. But I quickly realized that to progress in my career, I had to learn everything. And now I’m here, at one of the greatest clubs in English football.”
…On Liverpool’s goalkeepers:
“As a kid, I used to watch goalkeepers on YouTube, including Liverpool’s keepers – Jerzy Dudek, Pepe Reina, and now Alisson. Liverpool has always had great goalkeepers, and now I want to contribute to that tradition.”

H2: Working With Alisson Becker
“Ali is one of the best goalkeepers in the world today. I’m happy that I’ll get the chance to work with him. I can’t wait to start training alongside him – I have so much to learn from him.”
“Of course, it’s a challenge. I’m here to show my best and help the club succeed. I don’t like to talk much about myself, but I think I’m quite calm and focused. I have very quick reactions on the goal line.”
