Kvaratskhelia Speaks Ahead of World Cup Semifinal vs Real Madrid

In the World Cup semifinal, Paris Saint-Germain will face off against Real Madrid. On the day before the match, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia gave an interview to DAZN, sharing the team’s mindset and motivation:
“This will be a great match. We feel very good, we are ready, and we’ve prepared well. We will fight against Real Madrid. We may be a bit tired, but we are motivated. We want to win this tournament — that’s why we’re here. We still have energy, and we’ll do everything we can.”
Team Spirit and Luis Enrique’s Role
Khvicha emphasized the strong sense of unity at PSG and the importance of the head coach:
“We’re happy to be together and we try to play as a team. On and off the pitch, we feel like a family and enjoy every moment. We have a strong team spirit and fight for one another. We’re not dependent on a single player. We’re a team. The coach plays a big role — he gives us great tactical instructions and motivation. We’re happy he’s our coach, and we give everything on the pitch for him.”
Unforgettable Win Against Bayern
In the quarterfinal, PSG defeated Bayern Munich 2-0, despite playing much of the match with only nine men. Khvicha reflected:
“That was an incredible match. I don’t think any team is unbeatable, but we go onto the pitch to win — no matter who we’re playing. We give everything in every match.”
On Mbappé — Respect, but Focus on the Team
This will be Kylian Mbappé’s first time playing against PSG since joining Real Madrid. Kvaratskhelia spoke with both respect and focus:
“We know he’s one of the greatest players in history. We respect him, just as we respect all our opponents. But now, he’s on the other side. Once we’re on the pitch, we only want to win. The attention shouldn’t be only on Mbappé — Real Madrid has a great team and deserves respect. We have to focus on our own game and fight for victory.”
When asked whether Real Madrid is more dangerous with or without Mbappé, Khvicha responded:
“That’s a tough question. Mbappé is one of the best, so of course they’re more dangerous with him. But Real is strong as a whole. What matters most is their team spirit. We respect them — but we’ll fight against anyone, no matter who’s on the pitch.”
